Another interesting type of coffee maker
The siphon was first presented to the aristocratic public in Vienna in the middle of the century before last, during a reception at the palace of the Austrian emperor. The siphon was called the "Viennese coffee maker" and became an integral part of any secular reception.
Tea can also be brewed in them, but after the presentation of the Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph I in the palace, the reputation of a coffee brewing device was firmly established behind the siphon.
Until the beginning of the 20th century, the Viennese coffee maker reigned supreme in all coffee shops and homes in Europe. Then the siphon was forgotten for more than half a century. But in 1975, collectors of antiquities from Switzerland decided to restore the traditions: they recreated the siphon coffee maker and set up its production at the Dutch enterprises.
Viennese coffee makers have retained their aristocratic appearance and are popular among connoisseurs of coffee and antiquity. Such products are quite expensive.
